What does the Bible say about losing your life to gain it?
When you read the small story in this post, what does it mean for you? How do you approach your time in prayer? Do you think of the things you lose and what you gain? I think of letting go and letting God! In this context, you want to lose or let go of the negative response to others, negative traits, unhealthy pride, and worldly focus. In losing or letting go of those things you, by principle, gain spiritual strength and growth, positive outlooks, and deeper understanding of God’s purpose. In prayer you let God lead and guide your thoughts and actions. Matthew 10:39 speaks about losing your life to gain it. It says, “Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”
When you look at life from an eternal perspective you begin to realize that no worldly or selfish gain compares to the prosperous life you gain in surrendering every aspect of it over to God’s sovereignty.
Choose today to make prayer and quiet time with the Lord and His word a priority. You’re entire outlook on life will shift to a better one.
