If you are a believer in Christ, according to His Word you have been given all the tools you need to be prosperous in whatever areas you are struggling with today! That is why the Apostle Paul wrote about the "armor of God" in Ephesians 6:10-18, using this metaphor to depict spiritual warfare and to encourage the believer to stand firm, be strong, and ready for every challenge you will face.

The Armor

Belt of Truth

Ephesians 6:14, John 1:14; 14:6 Christ reassures Christians that having faith in Him is having faith in God. To know Christ who comes from God, is to know "the way, the truth, and the life", therefore we must walk in His righteousness, which is translated into "absolute truth".

Breastplate of Righteousness

Ephesians 6:14, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Proverbs 21:21 A Christian is declared to be in right standing with God and in a state of right relationship with God when he/she lives justly, honestly, and faithfully according to biblical standards, and through upholding faith in Jesus.

Shoes of the Gospel of Peace

Ephesians 6:15, Isaiah 52:7 Every Christian is encouraged to be prepared and ready to give testimony of and share the gospel which is the good news of Jesus Christ, and to stand firm and stable in their faith as they share the gospel of faith and face trials, temptations, and sin. The shoes of peace allows us to walk with humility and gentleness, with patience, loving others, and to make every effort to walk in unity with others through the bond of peace.

Shield of Faith

Ephesians 6:16, Psalm 3:3 God is often referred to as the shield throughout the scriptures. He protects those who trust Him. The shield represents a symbol of protection and guards against spiritual attacks of doubt, fear, and lies. It represents the believer's reliance on the strength and promises of God. We are to hold. fast to these and not be swayed by negativity, especially in times of hardship and temptation.

Helmet of Salvation

Ephesians 6:17, 1 Thessalonians 5:8 Metaphorically putting on the helmet of salvation helps the believer to focus and is seen as a shield for the mind and spirit, protecting one's mind from doubt, fear, and discouragement. It also represents the assurance of hope in our salvation, knowing that we belong to God and have been saved from sin and death (physical and spiritual).

Sword of the Spirit

Ephesians 6:17, Hebrews 4:12 The Bible is the sword of the Spirit-it empowers the believer to see who they really are and what God thinks about them, it reveals God's truth, ourselves, and others, and it cuts through sin and restores spiritual vision, knowledge, wisdom, and growth. It provides the believer power and strength to help others withstand evil attacks, to save souls by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, and matures individuals to engage in spiritual battle as soldiers for Christ in the great fight of faith.

Devotion to Prayer and Intercession for the Saints

Ephesians 6:18, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." The believer fights on his/her knees, this means that making time for consistent prayer is the essential practice of applying the "Armor of God". The believer is urged in 1 Thess. 5:16-18 to rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will in Christ Jesus.
